Is Hogwarts Legacy Worth The Upgrade?
Is Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition worth it? Here’s what you need to know about the deluxe version of the hit RPG.
Avalanche Software’s long-awaited open-world RPG has finally made its debut across multiple platforms. But similar to many other titles, the game comes with various versions. Those who want to immerse themselves in Hogwarts Legacy in its purest form can go with the Standard Edition. But Avalanche’s Wizarding World title also comes with the Deluxe Edition.
But is Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition worth it? What does this more expensive version of the game offer?
Should you buy Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition?
The short answer to this popular question would be no. That’s because the content in Deluxe Edition mostly consists of cosmetics. While the game does offer an item pack with its Deluxe Edition, it does not come with significant bonus content. But if you fancy looking more fashionable during your journey in Hogwarts, you should check what this more expensive version of the game offers.
- Base Game
- Thestral Mount
- Dark Arts Battle Arena
- Dark Arts Garrison Hat
- Dark Arts Cosmetic Pack
Have a look at the image below if you are curious about how the cosmetics look. Those who are wondering if this edition of the game offers anything might be a bit disappointed. That’s because, like many other AAA titles, the Deluxe Edition lacks solid playable content.
On the other hand, it did come with an early access feature, allowing players to set a foothold in Hogwarts before the game fully launched. Those who have pre-purchased Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition got the chance to dive into the title before the global release date.
While that was great for most, that feature does not mean anything now, as the game has already made its debut on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. It is safe to say that the launch was a bit rough though, due to the game’s troubled FPS. But another guide should provide the best graphics settings for Hogwarts Legacy.
Is Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition worth buying?
As we mentioned above, the lack of playable content makes the Deluxe Edition a lackluster version of the game. Those who want to purchase the game can simply go with the standard version, which does not come with a series of cosmetics.
While Deluxe Edition lacks extra content like quests and adventures, it is a different case when it comes to the game’s PlayStation versions. That’s because Hogwarts Legacy offers an exlcusive quest on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Those who own the game on Sony’s consoles will get to delve into The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop which takes place in the town of Hogsmeade, the all-magic town near Hogwarts.
Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition: Exclusive Quest
The PlayStation-exclusive quest of Hogwarts Legacy is available in both the Standard and Deluxe editions of the game. This means that those who purchased this version on other platforms will not be able to take this quest. Even though you have pre-purchased the game on Steam or Xbox, your game will not allow you to access this exclusive content.
The name of the quest that is exclusive to PlayStation is The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop. And it is quite easy to take it provided that you have bought the edition on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5. But do note that the quest includes beasts that might trigger your arachnophobia. Now, let’s dive in and see what this mission offers.
How to start the PlayStation-exclusive quest in Hogwarts Legacy?
Here’s how to start the exclusive The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest in the popular open-world RPG.
- The quest takes place in Hogsmeade, hence the name. In order to start it, head to the South Hogsmeade Floo Flame teleport location.
- If you haven’t unlocked this teleportation spot yet, you might as well head to Spintwitches Sporting Needs as well.
- Talk with Penny, a house-elf who will be sweeping in front of the shop in South Hogsmeade.
- In order to start The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop, talk with Cassandra Mason, the shop owner.
- Purchase the shop by paying 1500 gold to Mason.
After purchasing the shop with the requested amount, you will head down to the basement of the shop. After you find yourself in the basement, you will realize that it is troubled by freakish creatures.
You are likely to spend around 50 minutes fighting against your enemies. But note that the dungeon is the large chunk of the quest, which is filled with mannequins and various other creatures.
As the reward for the exclusive PlayStation quest, you will receive ownership of the shop. That’s not as exciting as it sounds though, because it only allows you to store unnecessary items.
For those who are wondering about the other PlayStation-exclusive content, here’s a full list:
- The Shopkeepers Cosmetic Set
- In-game Hogsmeade Shop
- Felix Felicis Potion recipe
- Extra dungeon that is not found in other versions
Whether you are a solid Harry Potter fan or not, you will not miss out on anything significant if you don’t buy Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition. That’s because the actual content is exclusive to PlayStation consoles anyway.
But as we mentioned earlier, if you think the Dark Arts pack looks sleek and want to dress your character with some sinister items of clothing, Deluxe Edition might be for you.
